DINAH MULLEN SOUND DESIGNER FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE AND AUDIO ART

I was trained classically in piano and music theory from the age of six, then began composing music as a teenager. In my late teens I was drawn towards the relationship between the audible and the visual. I started making music for theatre professionally in 2003 and in 2005, gained a 1st in Sound and Music Technology at Rose Bruford.

My work has been heard at well known venues including The Soho Theatre, Hackney Empire, National Theatre, BAC and The Roundhouse and travelled to festivals in Edinburh and Montreal. I designed 24 hours of sound for an installation at Burning Man Festival and had the lead sound design role for a successful London Audio tour (Unreal City Audio) which was recently released as part of an App.

Current areas of interest include:

- Collaborating with new people, artists, musicians and performers.

- To work more extensively in other mediums: Game Music, Film, Installation, Audio-walks, Sonic Art.

- Exploring the possibilities of the relationship between the dancer and sound.

- To share my experience and support other designers in their early careers.
